Al-Quds Open University welcomed a delegation from Georgia State University, led by Professor Raj Sundaraman, on a visit aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two universities in scientific research and advanced educational programs. The discussions focused on the launch of a joint PhD program in Computer Science, which will provide Palestinian students with opportunities to work in global environments and develop skills suited to the international job market.
As “REACH” project enabled Palestinian youth to access international employment opportunities through freelancing platforms, enhancing their career prospects amidst local job market challenges.
As part of the collaboration with Georgia State University, discussions included utilizing the expertise from the “REACH” project to develop digital skills among PhD students. These skills will be incorporated into their academic research and studies, equipping them to work in environments that adopt the latest digital education and cross-border work methods. This was further reinforced with an overview of the stages and outcomes of the “REACH” project.
In closing, the visiting delegation and faculty members from both universities underscored the importance of building a robust academic network and resource-sharing to strengthen Palestinian students’ capabilities, prepare them for global careers, and enhance the global ranking of Palestinian universities.
