Al-Quds Open University participated in a translation and language training workshop as part of REACH project: Reinforcing Access to Cross-Border Employment at Palestinian Higher Education Institutions . The five-day workshop, which was organized in cooperation with the University of Alicante in Spain, was conducted by subject-matter specialists from the University of Alicante and covered a range of subjects including CAT Tools, audio-visual translation, and the online language services industry.
The workshop was attended by QOU faculty members with the purpose of increasing their academic capacity in designing and putting together training modules for students in Palestinian institutions on a variety of issues associated with translation and language competency; as well as training and qualifying graduate students in Palestinian higher education institutions and providing them with the essential translation and self-employment skills to get graduates established in this field and bridge the skills gap between them and the labor market, thus increasing their chances of remote cross-border hiring.
